    Position Overview:
    Interior Gas Utility (IGU) is seeking a skilled and motivated Grant Writer to identify, secure, and manage funding opportunities that support our mission of expanding access to affordable and sustainable natural gas in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. The Grant Writer will collaborate with IGU departments, community organizations, and government entities to maximize funding impact. This role requires exceptional writing, organizational, and project management skills, as the successful candidate will manage multiple grant applications and reporting requirements simultaneously.  This position is ideal for someone who excels at time management and team collaboration with a passion for furthering IGU’s mission.
    IGU’s mission is to provide low cost, clean burning natural gas to the largest number of people throughout the Fairbanks North Star Borough safely, economically, and as quickly as possible.
     
    Compensation:
    $75,000 - $100,000 annually DOE
     
    Key Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:

    1. Grant Research & Strategic Partnerships
    - Identify and research grant opportunities from federal, state, local, and private funding sources that align with IGU’s goals.
    - Understand which grants IGU is eligible to apply for directly and identify opportunities requiring collaboration with the Borough, nonprofits, or other organizations.
    - Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations to facilitate collaborative grant applications when IGU cannot apply independently.
    1. Proposal Development
    - Prepare, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and IGU’s strategic objectives.
    - Coordinate with IGU leadership, subject matter experts, and external partners to collect necessary information for proposals.
    - Manage overlapping deadlines for multiple applications, ensuring all submissions are accurate and timely.
    1. Grant Administration & Compliance
    - Oversee grant reporting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
    - Maintain organized records of grant applications, awards, and reporting documents.
    - Effectively manage concurrent applications and reporting obligations for multiple grants.
    1. Stakeholder Collaboration
    - Partner with IGU departments and external organizations to align grant efforts with operational and community objectives.
    - Work collaboratively with partners to manage joint applications, dividing responsibilities and ensuring clear communication.
    - Support the implementation of grant-funded projects, providing guidance on meeting reporting and compliance requirements.
    1. Timely Execution & Project Management
    - Effectively prioritize tasks to manage simultaneous grant applications, awards, and reporting deadlines.
    - Ensure proactive and timely communication with funders, internal stakeholders, and partners.
    - Create and maintain detailed grant timelines to track progress and prevent missed deadlines.
     
    Qualifications:
    Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
    Experience:
    • At least 3 years of experience in grant writing, nonprofit development, or related fields.
    • Proven success in securing funding through grants.
    • Experience managing multiple grant applications and reporting cycles simultaneously.
     
    Skills:
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills.
    • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software.
    • Familiarity with federal and state grant platforms and compliance requirements.
     
    Other:
    • Knowledge of utility, energy, or public infrastructure projects is a plus.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
     
    Physical Requirements and Hazards:
    • Frequently required to sit, stand, and handle objects or controls.
    • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 20 pounds.
    • Work is primarily performed in an office setting with minimal physical hazards.
