Overview:
The Literacy Council of Alaska is looking for a Case Manager for our Pathways program. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of case management experience, an understanding of the social services resources and climate in the greater Fairbanks area, and a drive to see youth achieve their education and career goals. Great communication skills and high attention to detail are essential, as well. This position will have the opportunity to create and execute individual service strategies for eligible youth, administer the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA-Y) grant monies and program functions, and contribute to the Literacy Council’s mission of changing lives through literacy.

Job Duties:
Case Management (70%)
-
Vet prospective participants and enroll eligible participants into the program
-
Maintain regular communication with program participants to ensure progress toward established goals is being made
-
Create detailed documentation of communications with participants and record measurable progress in Alaska Jobs database

Keep regular communication with the Program Director, and create reports on participant progress, as requested

Administer funds at the discretion of the Program Director and record spending activities accurately

Assist participants with enrolling in training and education programs

Employ the 14 basic service elements of the WIOA Youth program

Search for resources for participants outside of the scope of services offered through WIOA
-
Scan documents into Alaska Jobs database
Outreach (20%)
-
Maintain a positive rapport between the Literacy Council Pathways program and other agencies, organizations, and institutions that can serve and provide opportunities for our youth

Attend regularly scheduled community meetings
-
Contribute to social media efforts for Pathways

Update marketing materials, keep copies on hand, and provide as requested for outreach events
Other Duties as Assigned (10%)

Dependent on the needs of the program and agency as a whole and will be determined by the Program Director on an as-needed basis

Attend State, staff, and department meetings and trainings as scheduled
Job Skills and Qualifications:
-
Minimum of one year of case management experience is preferred; relevant education may be substituted

Ability to work independently as well as under the jurisdiction of the Program Director

Has an understanding of social services resources available in Fairbanks
-
Must have strong written and oral communication ability as well as a high level of detail orientation

Must be able to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Three years of case management experience
-
Prior engagement with LCA programs
-
Experience with grant delivery and administration
This position is supervised by the Pathways Program Director and has potential for advancement.
Starting Salary: $20 - $22 per/hr DOE. Part-time or full-time opportunity.
