    GENERAL DESCRIPTION & PURPOSE

    The Cold Climate Housing Research Center is a private non-profit corporation that promotes sustainable, durable, healthy building technologies in the Circumpolar North.

    Our research includes public education, policy analysis, economic research and deployment pertaining to housing in cold climates. We also design and demonstrate prototype homes for rural Alaska that match the climate, resources, culture, and economy of individual communities. We work with housing and government agencies, tribal entities, for-profit and nonprofit organizations to build better housing, and are supported through grants and private donations.

    CCHRC is in search of an experienced and motivated Front Office Receptionist to join an innovative team (and dogs) in Fairbanks, Alaska working to catalyze efficient and quality housing solutions throughout the circumpolar north through education and applied research.  Answer inquiries and provide information to the public, customers, visitors, and other interested parties regarding activities conducted at our Research Testing Facility.

    LOCATION & SCHEDULE

    Hours for this position is approximately 20 hours a week.  This role is in-person, as are all the CCHRC staff. The workday schedule is flexible, but some attendance at team and partner meetings, which happen between 9AM - 4PM AK, is a must. Occasionally, there will be staff needed outside these hours. CCHRC is open from Monday through Thursday 9 am  to 4pm.

    COMPENSATION

    Compensation is negotiable based on experience and can range between $15-20/hour. This job does not include benefits that include medical, employer matching IRA, holidays and competitive comp time.

    JOB DUTIES

    Administration (100%):
    1. Receiving guests and answering telephones; Screen calls/correspondence, answer routine inquiries, and/or provide information or refer inquiries to appropriate staff members.
    2. Sending, picking up and distributing mail.
    3. Maintaining a clean and neat appearance in the CCHRC offices.
    4. Logging all calls, emails, walk-in questions in the CRM platform.
    5. Responding to routine requests for information.
    6. Assisting with projects as needed.
    7. Maintaining CCHRC calendars; and schedule appointments, Schedule meetings, and any logistical support.
    8. Assist with travel accommodations and arrangements as necessary.
    9. Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    2. Proficiency in digital filing systems and office software (e.g., Google Suite, Canva).
    3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
