Journey through 50 years of Golden Days as we showcase historical motion picture scenes from collections housed at the Alaska Film Archives at University of Alaska Fairbanks. Immerse yourself in our community's vibrant heritage as university Film Archivist Angela Schmidt presents highlights demonstrating Fairbanks? economic and cultural development spanning the past remarkable century. Archival motion picture collections preserved at the University of Alaska Fairbanks are a testament to the generous contributions made by Alaskans and their families, who for decades have graciously donated a wide variety of films and videos with the aim of keeping history alive.
1) Fairbanks' rich mining history has been commemorated through Golden Days events since 1951.
2) Felix Pedro (Felice Pedroni) was an early prospector who contributed to the founding of Fairbanks.
3) Resources related to Fairbanks history can be accessed in person and online through the archives at University of Alaska Fairbanks.
4) Archival motion picture resources document our community's economic as well as cultural development.
