Fairbanks Arts December Artist Talks: Crystal Rose Cudworth and Teresa Shannon
-
Join Fairbanks Arts in the Bear Gallery and on fairbanksarts.org for our December artist talks.
Crystal Rose Cudworth’s artist talk is virtual and will be streamed on the Fairbanks Arts website. In her talk, Crystal discusses her background as an artist as well as the development of her work and creative process over time. Crystal Rose Cudworth lives and works in Juneau, Alaska. Her oil painting practice is engaged with the history of Impressionism by way of working “en plein air,” or in the open air. Her exhibition, Water Transformation, will be on view in the Bear Gallery through December 23.
Teresa Shannon’s artist talk will be held in-person in the Bear Gallery on Wednesday, December 15 at 6:00 pm. Pre-registration is required and all attendees must wear a mask.
In her artist talk, Teresa will discuss the local animals that inspire her work and the historic vessels that she references. She will also detail her various construction and firing processes in her animated sculptural pottery. Teresa’s exhibition, Back porch sightings: pottery from the boreal forest, features sculptural pots that are inspired by the small, often overlooked, wildlife that live in backyards around Fairbanks. It will be on view in the Bear Gallery through December 23.
These exhibitions are on view in the Bear Gallery from December 3–23, 2021. The gallery will be open from 12–7 pm on Friday, December 3 for the opening day. For the rest of the month, join us in the gallery Monday–Saturday, 12–6 pm. Visitors are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing and the gallery currently has a 15-guest limit in place.
