Executive Director

Lisa Herbert is the Executive Director for the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce (GFCC). She is responsible for the successful operation of all activities that promote the Chamber and the Fairbanks area as an attractive place for both business and community. Ms. Herbert joined the GFCC team as the Marketing Coordinator in September 2006 after relocating to the Fairbanks area from Boston, MA and was promoted to Executive Director in June 2010.

Ms. Herbert is passionate and devoted to the Fairbanks community and since calling the Interior her home, she has volunteered her time to numerous community events and activities. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for the 2014 Arctic Winter Games Host Society and the Breast Cancer Detection Center of Alaska. She became a Rotarian in July 2010 serving in the Rotary Club of Fairbanks and volunteers on a committee within that club. Ms. Herbert has volunteered her time to several community events such as the 2011 Fairbanks Governor’s Inauguration, the 2008 Army Community Covenant, Catholic Schools of Fairbanks Annual HIPOW, Breast Cancer Gala Affair, Military Appreciation Day, North Pole Summer Festival and the Alaska Federation of Natives Conference.

Additionally, Ms. Herbert successfully coordinates many community events and programs for the Chamber each year, including the Military Appreciation Banquet, the Tanana Chiefs Conference Reception, Community Partnership Day, Juneau Fly-In and one of Fairbanks’ premier summer attractions and the Chamber’s largest fundraiser of the year, Golden Days.

She is an avid supporter of the military men and women stationed in Alaska, and frequently attends the various award receptions and ceremonies. She also participates with the local Air Force Association Chapter and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. In 2011, Ms. Herbert received the “Jim Messer Award” for her commitment to Eielson Air Force Base and Fort Wainwright.

Ms. Herbert is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University with degrees in Advertising/Public Relations and Marketing Communications.

She was born at Langley AFB, Virginia and is married to Master Sergeant Peter Herbert of the 354th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Eielson AFB. They have three children, Aidan, Landon and Madison and have a home in North Pole.

Marketing Coordinator

Heather joined the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce in July of 2010 as the Marketing Coordinator.  Heather is responsible for Chamber marketing as well as serving as the lead organizer for Chamber events including but not limited to: Golden Days, Military Appreciation Banquet, Clean-Up Day, and the Annual Membership Meeting.  Heather is also the staff liaison for the Leadership Fairbanks program.

Heather’s professional interests include event planning, social media, and public relations.

Heather moved to Fairbanks in 2009 and is proud to serve the Chamber with a fresh perspective.  She moved from Boise, Idaho where she graduated from Boise State University with a BA in Mass Communication.

Advocacy & Public Affairs Director

Greg Bringhurst joined the Chamber in early January of 2012. Greg was born and raised in Fairbanks and has a strong understanding of the community. Greg has a vested interest in the future and well-being of interior Alaska, its citizens and businesses.

Greg is an alumnus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a Bachelor in Business Administration. He is an avid supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fairbanks and several other organizations in the area. He recently spent time working alongside State Legislators and leaders in Juneau while completing a fellowship. He continues to stay involved in state and local issues on a regular basis.

Greg’s wife Charlene, originally from Washington State, is also graduate of UAF and is involved throughout the Fairbanks area as well. They are proud to live in Fairbanks with their cat and three dogs.

Membership Coordinator

Wendie joined the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce team in December 2010.  In her role as the Membership Coordinator she focuses on recruiting new members, member retention, and develops and coordinates programs to benefit the general membership. During her first year at the chamber, membership has grown over 9%.

Wendie received a BA in Psychology and a BA in Sociology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She previously worked at a local youth residential treatment facility and has a soft spot for children in need.  She also assists her husband in managing Castle Rock Self Storage, a proud, locally owned storage company.

As a proud resident of Alaska for over 20 years, Wendie has a heart for Fairbanks and a hope to see the Interior thrive and prosper.  She is excited to be a part of the award winning Fairbanks Chamber team.

Committee & Projects Coordinator

Michelle Gibson is the Committee and Projects Coordinator for the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce, where she serves as the main liaison between Chamber Committees, Board, and Staff.  She has worked in this capacity since August of 2007.  She started working for the Chamber in a contract capacity in March of 2007, and was responsible for Chamber meeting minutes.

Michelle was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland.  She served as an enlisted service member in the Army from 1982 to 1986.  After receiving an honorable discharge, she attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and graduated Cum Laude from with a BA in Social Work and Psychology in 1989.  Her social work career was primarily in nursing homes, where over the years, she worked in both Social Services and Activity Departments in different parts of the country.

She is active in the Chena Kiwanis Club, and is the 2011-2012 Lieutenant Governor for the Alaska Yukon North Division of the Pacific Northwest District of Kiwanis International.

Administrative Assistant/Front Desk

Lisa Marie joined the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce in October 2010 as the Administrative Assistant. Lisa Marie is the friendly voice you hear when calling into the Chamber and the first person to greet you at the door with a smile when walking in. She is also responsible for the accounts receivable and accounts payable as well as the many regular day to day office procedures.

Lisa Marie’s passion is in the nursing field; however she is naturally gifted in accounting and has been working as a bookkeeper for the past 9 years, and is currently working to get her Accounting Degree. She does have her hands full with two wonderful daughters and basset hound Kobuk.

She graduated from Barrow High School, here in Alaska, where she met her wonderful husband. She attended Fullerton College, in Fullerton, California getting her general education certificate. Missing their home state decided to move back to Anchorage. For a few years, and then a job transfer moved the Nalikak family to Fairbanks in 2006. The Nalikak family loves the Fairbanks Community, it is one the most warm and friendly community thus far.
