The fact that they brought in a SATAF team says that the move of the F-16s is all but a done deal. Red Flag and the range were the piece that made the aggressor squadron a need. Now with sequestration afoot due to congressional failure to do its job the AF is struggling to maintain a semblance of capability and these F-16s and training are always the first to go. NOW a major effort must be made to sell the base on its strategic merits and to KEEP its infrastructure for a follow on tanker, RPVs or even C-117s for immediate airlift for the Strykers at FWW.in the face of a looming Pacific rim threat from the Chinese. The SATAF will look to accrue savings by allowing aircraft support facilities such as civil engineering, support security to move with the F-16s The support personel, ATC, EOD, and other less visible personnel will slowly become excess. Housing will likely be allowed to revert to private contractor despite the glut made by the airplane move. Buildings and other maintenance infrastructure is quietly planned to be taken down to show savings in not having warm requirements in the future which will be real savings versus the sham of the BRAC numbers, while out year AF milcon will be lessened. Red Flag will continue to exist but slowly evolve to Nellis when the joint base Elmo F-16s formerly of Eielson will be sent to the boneyard to show further personnel and equipment savings. The USAF has no IMMEDIATE need for Eielson and they are running budget scared instead of being militarily astute. The 168th ANG cannot maintain the field by itself unless another mission comes in. They already accrue major savings by having an active unit on base. The 1-25 Strykers cannot deploy without a base capability to move them and Eielson has a state of the art mobility center and a rapid ready fuel hydrant system which facilitates the movement of a lot of airlift. The Alaska railroad and refinery play strongly in the ONLY stand alone facility in the US. (FWW runway is not suitable for the mobility op). Short term perhaps the army could move aviation assets into Eielson to help keep it up Not looking good to this former Eielson commander but I guess there is always hope.

It is always good when citizens can come together to support a political position. For those of us who know better, it is sad that insiders in the oil industry enjoy thinking they have the Governor in the palm of their hand. Thank goodness some legislators are aware and see through the hype. No tax money should be relinquished until the oil is developed and the jobs are secured, then, a guarantee of a percentage back would be warranted. The legislature should create a bill that ties tax incentives to production (not more exploration) and jobs for Alaskans. Perhaps you might be over zealous in favor of a questionable policy being proposed by our Governor, a former oil lobbyist. Did it not concern you that the speakers were only stressing one side of the issue? Were you not concerned that legislators and those representing other opinions were not there? Some of us become very alarmed when a group of people is dazzled by a group of people who are there for their own self-interest. How did they assure you that having increased tax incentives would aide the economy of Fairbanks? Did they talk with you about a gas line for Fairbanks? Increasing tax incentives guarantees nothing. The world market forces and profits have the greater influence. Don't make Representative Kawasaki your scapegoat. While we don't always see things the same way, he takes this matter very seriously. If he says he will respond, how about letting him do that before you accuse him of not taking you seriously. How seriously did you take the "Occupy Fairbanks" RALLY? I seem to recall the flippant comments. Rallies have their place. Constituents, all constituents deserve attention and respect.

Lisa & Lorna,

Thank you for your immediate response to the pandering comments from Representative Kawasaki. I was at the event and must truly commend yourselves and the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce at having such a panel of speakers. I do not believe Fairbanks has ever had such group of C.E.O.'s from the North Slope oil industry give operational over view and economic data with projections such as was experienced at the Tuesday Luncheon.

When 200 business leaders of the community take the time to write a note about a single aspect, even if a Legislator does not agree with their economic view, they should still thank the participants for their involvement and address of such a significant legislative bill. From the comments Scott wrote, I am forced to believe that he enjoys the isolation of Juneau from Fairbanks and does not believe in the partipation of Interior residents of such critical issues. A case of continuents being seen and not heard I am afraid.

Again, thank you for the presentation I viewed and your immediate professional response to such unwarranted comments. The two of you are wonderful Ambassadors for Fairbanks and we are so fortunate to have you representing us.

Respectfully,

David Pruhs, Owner/Broker

Very well worded letter. I thought the event was a perfect way for business people to vocalize their concerns. I've shown up to provide testimony twice on the Senate Bill, and have been told I'd have to wait 2 hours to speak. Like most wage-earners, I don't have 2 hours to waste. Thank you for providing this necessary forum. It saddens me to hear this representative dismiss the real crisis facing Fairbanks, and the Chamber's efforts to address it.

I am opening a Renewable energy company in North Pole/ Fairbanks are.
Are any of your meetings open to non-members?
Are there any Renewable energy training opportunities for installers in the Fairbanks area through your organisation?
What help can you offer a new company with a membership?
Thanks,
